For the second coat, setting-type or drying-type (ready-mixed or powder) joint compounds may be used. Fibreglass Drywall Tape is recommended for use with either setting-type or drying-type joint compounds to repair small cracks and holes in drywall and plaster surfaces. Unique construction Conventional fibreglass mesh tapes can stretch slightly when the joint is deflected. When stretching occurs, joints can crack. For this reason, conventional fibre glass tape is recommended only with special high-strength setting-type powder compounds such as Setting-Type Joint Compound. In contrast, the unique leno weave construction of Fibre glass Drywall Tape resists stretching to prevent cracking in drywall joints.
